Bearings.

Run by Dan Taylor and Aneta Burkiewicz. We make identities, digital products, packaging, print and real-world graphics, and we help carry ideas out into the real world.

How we work.

Three habits we bring to every job, from books to branding.

  1. 01

    Start at the beginning.

Before anything gets drawn, we find out what the job is for, who it’s for and what it has to do. The brief is where the work starts.

  2. 02

    Notice the details.

Every project has something in it that gets walked past: a quirk in the product, a line in the research, the story under the story. That is usually where the idea is.

  3. 03

    Take it all the way.

We push every idea as far as it will go, and we don’t call a project finished until the people it was made for are using it.

What we do.

Brand identity
Names set in type, marks, colour and the rules that hold them together.
Digital product
Apps and product interfaces, designed around the people who use them.
Websites
Designed page by page, and handed over ready to build and keep up to date.
Packaging
Cartons, tubes and labels that read on a shelf and still carry the fine print.
Environmental graphics
Interpretation, signage and graphics for real places and telling real stories.
Editorial & print
Books, manuals, reports and panels, designed to be a joy to read.
Marketing
Campaign artwork, adverts and social assets, built from the brand.
Something else
If it needs designing and it isn’t on this list, get in touch.

Who we work with.

We do everything we can in house. When a job needs skills we don’t have, we bring in people we trust: freelance designers, illustrators, photographers and animators, commissioned for the job.
