Fifty North Creative Ltd · Version 1.2 · 22 October 2026
Who we are
Fifty North Creative Ltd is a branding and design studio in Brighton. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. We are not required to appoint a data protection officer. For anything to do with your personal information, email [email protected].
The short version
We collect the personal information we need to answer enquiries, do the work and run the business. We keep it only as long as we need it. We do not sell it, and we share it only with the services and advisers that help us run the studio.
When we work on your material
Clients sometimes send us material that contains other people’s personal information, such as photographs, staff names or customer details for a project. In those cases the client is the controller and we are the processor: we use the material only to do the agreed work, on the client’s instructions, and we return or delete it when the project ends unless the client asks us to keep it.
What we collect, why, and on what basis
Visitors to this website. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps server logs that include your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, for security and to keep the site running. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website. We do not use analytics.
People who contact us. If you email us or use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, company or organisation, and whatever you tell us about your project. The form sends this straight to our email. We use it to reply, to discuss the work and to prepare a proposal. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and, if we go ahead, the steps needed to enter a contract with you.
People who leave an email address in the footer. We use it to send you a short questionnaire about your project and to reply to what you send back. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not send marketing. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to a request you have made.
Clients. To do the work and get paid we hold contact details, correspondence, briefs, approvals, contracts and invoicing details. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you, and our legal obligation to keep accounting records.
Suppliers, freelancers and collaborators. We hold contact details, contracts, invoices and payment details. Legal basis: performance of a contract and our legal obligation to keep accounting records.
People who email us about working here. We do not run a recruitment process on this website. If you email us, we keep your message and any attachments while we consider it. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in considering people who want to work with us.
If we get your details from someone other than you, such as a referral, a public professional profile or a client who names you as a contact, we will tell you where we got them when we first get in touch.
We do not collect special category data, such as health or ethnicity, and we ask you not to send it to us.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it with the services and people that help us run the studio, each of which is bound by contract or professional duty to use it only for that purpose:
- Website hosting (Cloudflare Pages), and domain and email (IONOS).
- Accounting, invoicing and payroll (Xero), and our accountants, who have access to our accounting records.
- Project management and design tools where client or supplier details appear in them (Monday.com, Figma, Adobe).
- AI-assisted tools we use in our work (Anthropic’s Claude and Figma’s AI features). We do not put client or personal information into these tools unless the client has agreed, and we use settings that stop the provider training on our data where the service offers them. How we use AI is set out on our AI page.
- Professional advisers, insurers, banks and payment providers, where we need them.
- Public authorities, where the law requires it.
If we sell or restructure the business, personal information may pass to the new owner on the same terms as this policy.
Showing our work
We show finished work in our portfolio, on this website and on social media. Where that work includes a person’s name, image or words, we ask for their agreement before we publish, and we remove it if they ask. Clients can tell us not to show a project at all.
Sending information outside the UK
Some of the services above are based in, or store data in, the United States and the European Union. Where personal information leaves the UK we rely on the UK adequacy regulations for that country, or on the provider’s participation in the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, so that it has the same protection it would have here.
How long we keep things
- Enquiries that do not become work: up to twelve months after our last contact.
- Client and supplier records, invoices and contracts: six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, which is what UK tax law requires.
- Project files and correspondence: six years after the project ends.
- Messages about working here: six months, unless we take it further.
- Server logs: as set by our host, and not longer than twelve months.
We review what we hold once a year and delete what we no longer need.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to be told how we use your information, to ask for a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw any consent you have given. Email [email protected]. We respond within one month, and we may ask you to confirm your identity first. There is no charge unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
Do you have to give us your information?
No. You can browse this site without giving us anything. If you want us to reply to you, we need a way to reach you, and if you want us to work for you, we need the details required to agree the work and invoice for it.
Automated decisions
We do not make decisions about you by automated means, and we do not profile you.
Cookies
This website does not use cookies for analytics, advertising or tracking. Our host may set strictly necessary cookies that are needed for the site to work and that store no personal information. We will update this section before adding anything else.
Keeping it secure
We limit access to personal information to the people who need it. We use two-factor authentication on our accounts where the service offers it, keep our devices locked and encrypted, and keep the information we hold to a minimum. If a breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will tell the Information Commissioner’s Office within 72 hours and tell you without undue delay.
Children
Our services are for businesses and organisations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you think we have, email us and we will delete it.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, email us first and we will try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, at any time, without going through us.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when what we do changes, and show the date and version at the top.
